A Little More About Me

I’ve always believed you can’t do meaningful conservation without understanding people—and you can’t understand people without listening to their stories....

My Roots

My story begins in a home alive with rescued wildlife, where respect for flora and fauna was a way of life. I grew up among wild birds, lizards, orphaned baby squirrels, and many other species.  My childhood was a swirl of outdoors adventures, catching frogs, snakes, furry things, even jellyfish while running around farms, camp sites, and coastlines.  Lessons of respect and stewardship came early, sometimes because the wildlife in need of rehabilitation were, unfortunately, a result of my eager explorations.

My roots are grounded in two worlds: a father whose international upbringing nurtured compassion across cultures and species, and a mother whose deep connection to ancestral land instilled an intuitive sense of place. My father's family imparted lessons from their life in Cambodia and Japan where my grandfather was stationed. They taught the importance of immersion in local cultures while caring for orphaned wildlife (including a tiger, a gibbon, and civet cats to name a few). My mother’s family, having lived on the same land for over seven generations, modeled the value of reading the landscape—not only through its species and seasons, but its rhythms, moods, and quiet signals. This environmental literacy, passed down through tradition and relationship, forms the foundation of how I move through the world.

That belief has guided me throughout a career at the intersection of conservation, climate policy, social and environmental due diligence. I’m passionate about leaving the world better for future generations—whether through systems that embed social and environmental safeguards or strategies that uplift communities long overlooked in conservation. I’ve led teams across government and nonprofit sectors, and what drives me is knowing that I’m helping make a dent in something that matters.

What I Value

At my core, I believe that successful conservation is as much about relationships as it is about science. It’s messy, complex, and profoundly human—and that’s exactly why it matters.

I believe good policy is rooted in care: care for people, care for place, and care for future generations.
My work is driven by a deep commitment to equity, stewardship, and honesty. I value authenticity in collaboration, and I strive to bring humility and curiosity into every partnership. Whether I’m supporting Indigenous governance systems or shaping safeguards policy, I never forget that lasting impact comes from centering those most connected to the land.

Work & Leadership Style

My approach is grounded in service leadership—empowering others, building trust, and ensuring teams can thrive with or without me.

I care deeply about empowering others—whether it's mentoring a team, building inclusive partnerships, or designing programs that can thrive long after I’ve stepped away. I’m a listener, a connector, and a creative problem-solver who believes leadership is about service, not control.

Colleagues describe me as loyal, driven, strategic; a strong communicator who listens deeply, builds trust, and delivers with integrity.

I believe in clarity, transparency (even when the news is hard), and mutual respect.

Outside of Work

Outside of work, you’ll find me planning my next trip, trying new food (eating my first grasshopper shown here), or wandering near the water.

Fun fact:  I once brought home a copperhead snake as a pet when I was ten. She was lovely.

I was promptly taught the importance of loving animals in their habitat, not inside the house.
